Coloratura soprano Lauren Sutherland is an exciting newcomer to the Chicago classical music scene. During the 25-26 season, Lauren has performed as Verveine in Bellissima Opera's Chicago premiere of Pauline Viardot's Le Dernier Sorcier, Peep-Bo in the Savoyaire's re-invented Mikado, and Suor Genoveffia in Midwest Opera Theatre's Suor Angelica. In April 2026, she will sing the role of Lucy in Menotti's The Telephone with Fox Valley Opera.
Lauren holds degrees from the Wheaton College Conservatory and the University of Missouri Kansas City, where she studied with Maria Kanyova.
Lauren is an avid runner and recently completed her fifth half marathon. She also loves game nights, knitting, and scouring vintage stores. She resides and teaches voice and piano from Oak Park, IL with her husband David, cat Leonard Bernstein, and dog Birdo.
Lauren sings the role of Lucy in Menotti's The Telephone with Fox Valley Opera.
